(“Shankara” means “Bestower of Happiness/ or Bliss”).

Har Har Mahadev!

Shiva means the “Good” or “Auspicious One”. When addressed with "Har Har Mahadev", is 'Hara', and 'har' is the root word for destruction; so Lord Shiva is the great destroyer of ego. As such, He revels in ferrying His devotees across the difficult sea of samsara- the cycles of births and deaths. Meditation on Lord Shiva dissolves all of our self imposed limitations and falsities, which only appear to separate us from our true non-dual nature.

As Pure Consciousness Itself, Shiva is the glorious undivided Absolute. Maha means “Great”; and Deva means the “Shining One”, therefore Shiva is the “Great Shining One”. He is the eternal unmanifest; the ever blissful supreme awareness beyond the maya of duality. All is eternally Shiva, Who is the unchanging substratum and true Self of all.

May the Auspicious Great Shining One Release Us From the Bondage of Ego.

Har Har Mahadev!
